Comic Relief

I've recently done some drawings inspired by the TV show GIRLS -  these were the first bits of drawing I did after breaking my arm and after being reassured and relieved that I could still draw (it was my right arm I broke and I'm right handed) I thought I would try a bit of painting to make sure I could still use a paintbrush too. For inspiration this time I turned to the classic 1970s Sitcom THE GOOD LIFE (which I've been watching round at my Mum's when I visit her after buying her the complete Boxset) and the greatest sitcom character of all time - MARGOT LEADBETTER (Penelope Keith).

I've put all these pieces of work up for sale on eBay to try and raise money for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day which is next week on Friday 15th March.

Here are links to the work up for sale -

Breaking my arm and discovering Girls

About six weeks ago I broke my arm and as well as hurting (quite a bit) there was a period of freaking out and panicking that I might never be able to draw or paint again. There was nothing much that could be done except waiting to see if it healed okay and this waiting involved lots of sitting with the arm in a sling and watching a lot (and I mean A LOT) of television. It's not like I'm averse to being a couch potato -in fact I'm really very good at it. The best thing to come out of this was discovering the HBO series GIRLS created by and starring Lena Dunham. I watched the whole series in a day and a half and as my arm began to feel like it was itching to draw again I found myself doing work inspired by the show (which I was watching over and over) and so it was as I was drawing Hannah Horvath that I realised "maybe this is going to be okay". I've done four so far but think I'll need to some more involving more of the characters and quotes that I've quickly grown to love until the itch is properly scratched.

Dead Dog

"Dead Dog!" - one of the stories from the first issue of "See Far Enough".

Keep Walking....

The first issue of "See Far Enough" has a cover featuring the drawing "Keep Walking...".

I've already sold the original drawing but I've got prints of the image available on my Etsy shop.

The drawing is based on one of my paintings "Exterior 1" which is available for sale on Art Pistol.

Somewhere Else

The second issue of  "See Far Enough" will feature a drawing called "Somewhere Else 2" on the cover.

This drawing is one of the works I've got up for sale through online gallery Art Pistol and is currently available at half price as part of their February Sale.

The drawing is rendered in black ink on bristol board and measures 42 x 30cm.

Being Human

Now that I've broken my arm and can't get any drawing done for a while I've got plenty time to spend on  my blog but no new drawings to put on it.

I'm really looking forward to the new series of "Being Human" starting tonight on the BBC. When most of the original cast left I thought I might be done with the show but last series, which by the end of it had a completely new line-up of lead characters, ended up being my favourite series so far. These are drawings I did last year of Hal (played by Damien Molony) and Tom (played by Michael Socha).

This is a drawing  of a "missing scene" - portraying Tom's grief at the death of Eve and "passing over" of Annie at the end of the fourth series.

See Far Enough - Issue One

"See Far Enough" is the comic I'm writing and drawing featuring a few stories in each issue - I had planned to have the First Issue out in February but then I broke my effing arm! It's the  right one which I use for drawing and painting so I'll need to wait until it is all healed up in (hopefully) a month or two to finish it off.

In the way of a preview here are the front cover of Issue One and the first part of a story "Breathe Queasy" which will run through the first four issues.

Thanks

Coll
